Pinterest

My newest obsession is Pinterest.com. It's basically a virtual bulletin board to post/repost/like/follow the things you love... including but so not limited to... art, decor, clothes, quotes, people, pictures.
Here are a few (very few) of the things that I have fallen head over heels for since I joined... yesterday.

Calling all lurkers...

In the last week I've noticed some visitors from far away like Moscow City. That is so cool to me and makes me wonder what in the world I have in common with someone from Moscow!  There have also been visitors from New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Colorado in the past few months as well.

So lurkers... let me know who you are and if you have a blog I would enjoy reading too :)

New song and blog...

I like this song.  I don't know how new it is but it's new to me (thank you Rachel)...

I like this blog and can't believe I haven't heard of it before.  Thanks FB friends for sending me to it... The Pioneer Woman.  The post that really inspired me was about her grandmother and her house.  I plan on using this idea to document some of my favorite places in my mom's house.  Read it... you'll see... and I bet you won't be able to keep from crying!

100th post and an award!

I can't believe it's my 100th post. What a great way to celebrate... with an award and kudos to my favorite sites. I went back through some old ones a couple of days ago and it made me so glad that I started this blog!

So my sweet friend Rachel gave me an award... Thank you for all that you are to me!  With this award, you nominate 7 blogs, make a link to who nominated you, and tell 7 random things about yourself. Ok, here are the nominees (in no particular order, I love them all!)...

1. "I'm Just Saying" (Christy): Christy is an amazing woman raising an absolutely precious girl and a dirty rotten boy teenager (J/K... I'm sure he's clean. lol:) She is very outspoken and hilarious!

2. Jones Family (Shannon): Shannon is a sweetheart and a fellow "speechie". We went to college together but didn't really get close until after.  This girl has a heart for God and a precious husband, son and baby on the way!

3. The Harmons (Laura): Laura and Shannon are childhood BFFs.  Laura was my roommate for awhile in college.  We learned A LOT from each other (her - how to stand up for herself, me - not to be such a bully) LOL.  Laura is married and has a brand spanking new baby girl , Caraline.

4. The Moma Diary (Julie): Julie is a brave woman who has opened her heart and home to her 96 year old, very difficult grandmother. There is never a dull moment in her house! I love the honesty of her blog!

5. Home Cookin (Mark): Ok so he's a guy but I really like his blog.  Mark has a heart for God and Home Groups.

6. Life of Leslie (Leslie): Leslie has already received an award from Rachel but I'll give her one too.  My favorite expression of hers is, "God, I can't wait for you to rock my world!". She has reminded me to expect great things from our Great God!

7. Lindsey's Life (Lindsey): Lindsey is a fellow "speechie" and alum from UA.  She should really blog more :)  Lindsey has always been a sweetheart and I'm sure she's a great therapist too!

Now for 7 random facts about me...

1. I married my high school sweetheart and we have a HUGE dog that loves to be the center of attention.
2. I talk in my sleep
3. I am obsessed with my iphone
4. I am obsessed with formatting things... I love it!
5. I've never had truer friends than I do right now.
6. I love jazzy, soulful music
7. I can't go to walmart with D b/c we argue as soon as we walk in the door.

my life lately...

There are few reasons why I haven't blogged lately...
  • There are just some things better kept private.
  • I think on some level I am depressed.
  • It's not wise to blog about work.
In partial reference to the first... all of the job leads Dustin has had lately have fallen through. It seems like if I announce an interview or a new application submitted, then it will surely fall through. We are both so tired of this unemployed life. He is getting much better about sharing his feelings about not working. He's miserable with it and every day that passes feels more hopeless. We both know that God is in control and that our needs will be met in His time.
I am so proud of Dustin. He has made such an effort to be a great husband. He cooks. He cleans. He does laundry. He barely watches TV. He has taken the lead in Night Light by James Dobson. I could go on :) Even though we have issues - like all couples - I'm happy.

I don't really know why I might be depressed... hmmm - let's think about it. Husband has been looking for jobs for 8 months with no luck, my friend and co-worker changed jobs, my granddad is 83 and seems to be declining rapidly, issues that i can't discuss online, my very dear fertility challenged friend has been on a roller coaster for weeks now and I hurt for her.

I'm not even going to comment on the last one.

So I haven't been sleeping well. I don't know if that's the best way to say it... I can't get to sleep. Once I do, I can't wake up. It doesn't matter what time I go to sleep. What is wrong with me??? I am tired all day! I have not gotten up in time to do my Whispers Of Hope study. Even on the days that I happen to get up on time, I'm not motivated. I know that's horrible to say that I don't have motivation to do my Bible study and spend time in prayer but that's where I'm at right now.

On a lighter note.... here are some things that have made me tremendously happy and kept me going lately...
  • Movie night with Mom - Julie & Julia - a must see
  • Bought some cute stuff on NotMoira.com
  • I painted a Pretty Peacock
  • I had a fantastic weekend... one of the best in a long time thanks to some TRUE friends and back porches!
  • Bronco is still a great dog! He has such a personality!!
  • I'm going to see Sister Hazel Thursday night here in Gadsden!
  • I am waiting to receive my "Little" in a couple of weeks! (Big Brothers Big Sisters)
  • Paint The Town is still wildly successful!
  • The Alabama Gift Company is open and running :)
  • Lazy pajama days
  • God provides for every need we have... all the time!

Blogging

I made this Blog Header but can't find a good template for it to fit in...

I have searched far and wide for a layout that Ilike and I'm satisfied for now. I don't like that the links at the top have no real purpose and I have no idea how to change that.

I am really going to attempt to keep up with this thing. Since I don't have a lot of drama in my life (thank goodness) I may not have a post every day. I have seen other bloggers do daily "events" such as "wordless wednesday" and such so I might do that too.

Happy reading and let me know what you think :)
